Information Literacy(Lab)

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

For me, knowledge is power because it is the most powerful, influential, and potent factor of humans. It holds more power than physical strength because knowledge is above everything. Through knowledge, we are able to make informed, careful, and wise decisions. Knowledge does not only limit to the information we gain from books for it comes from our own experiences.Unlike our physical strength, there is no end to knowledge. There is no limit to what a person can learn. The more knowledge we have, the more educated we get, the more power we contain in solving bigger problems.
IMPORTANCE OF GIVING CREDIT TO THE SOURCE OF ONES WORK

It is very important to acknowledge or give credit to the source of one’s work. This is because it is simply a sign of respect to the creator of the idea or the work itself. If one doesn’t give credit to the source of a work he just copied, it can be implied that he claims to be the creator or the owner of the work which would mean that he is stealing the idea or the work, even if he doesn’t have any intentions in doing so. This then has corresponding legal implications pertaining to copyright. In addition, acknowledging the author of an idea or a work would improve the credibility of one’s own work.

ESSAY ABOUT AN INFORMATION LITERATE INDIVIDUAL
An information literate individual simply refers to a person who have enough skills and competencies which allow him to efficiently engage in activities concerning information. A person who is an information literate demonstrates responsible use of information – conveying, sharing, and transmitting. In order to be an information literate, one must know when information is needed, where to locate it, and how to evaluate the truthfulness and falsity of an information being disseminated. Being an information literate is very crucial especially with the technology we have today that allows anyone to create information in just as easy as one click, which then imposes a threat in the validity of all information disseminated through media.
